JLReis Boudoir Glamour Photo Rep

Now that the studio is pretty much finished (but there’s always something new going on), I’m looking for a photo rep. A few someones to represent JLReis Photography; a muse and model for portrait, glamour and boudoir sessions. My clients over the past four years (yes, it’s been that long!) have been wonderful, but the majority of them don’t want to share their photos publicly. Of course, I respect that choice 100%, but sadly this leaves me unable to share some of my favorite images and to show my work to women everywhere in Northeast Wisconsin!

I’m looking photo reps, women whose images I can share on my website, and social media and who will share their photos with their friends on social media! While it is really helpful to have someone spread the word about me, a photo rep will give me the opportunity to style creative shoots. Some of my favorite sessions have been on-location: at the Fair, at local waterfalls and hidden riverbeds and those with my clients wearing retro/vintage costumes (or not ;-))

My regular clients will ALWAYS have the option to keep their photos private, so working with a boudoir rep gives me photos for use in advertisements, additions to my portfolio, and fun stuff to share on Facebook. I need women who know and believe how important it is for women to embrace their sensuality and feel more comfortable in their own skin. I want to work with someone who loves what I do, and understands why I do it.

2017’s Photo Rep will receive at least three (3) FREE shoots from July 1st until December 31st. Every session will include hair and make-up, referral points toward photography sessions and print products for every client that books from your referral and a gorgeous leather bound photo box with 15 of your favorite images from the year.

Glamour Photographer – Who Am I?

Modern Glamour Photography in Green Bay, Appleton, Seymour, Shawano, Wisconsin

Who am I? I am a glamour photographer. What I do isn’t for everybody, but it is for YOU.

It’s for the woman who has NEVER liked a photo of herself. It’s for the daughter(s) who want a forever memory of their mom.

I do it for you, who think you have to use lose ten pounds (you don’t). I do it for you, who doesn’t feel comfortable on front of the camera (oh what fun we’ll have and the photos that come out of it will be spectacular!)

I am a glamour photographer for the every day woman. Your last beautiful photos don’t have to be from your graduation or wedding day.

Ideal Client – Who Am I Doing This For

Sitting down and writing a blog post to my ideal client, or getting an ad ready for my Facebook page is my favorite time of day. I know I have a dozen other things to do, both at home and for work, and I’d rather be watching something new on Netflix (Bates Hotel, anyone?), and I’ll get to the things I have to do (dishes, laundry, vacuuming, meeting with clients, etc.), just like you, but for this little bit of time I get to do something that I really enjoy.

And that’s talking to YOU.

Someone asked me WHY in the name of Jesus do I like to take boudoir photos. Because it’s FUN. It’s fun to pick clothes or outfits for you (finally getting to use what I learned in cosmetology school about colors – spring, fall, you know), to help you make the sexiest photos for the love of your life. Or showing you how to pose to disguise or play down areas of your body that YOU think are bad (odds are no one else notices them as much as you do).

I like to make pretty things. My sister loves to take photos of beautiful flowers – me? Not so much. When I go to New Orleans, I take photos of the architecture and what have you, but it’s the PEOPLE that I concentrate on. When I go on a picture taking trip with my sister, I focus on people.

I want to give you something that you can hold in your hand, tomorrow, next month or in five years that will remind you that you ARE beautiful I have clients who’ve told me that they actually DO take their photos out and look at them, sometimes more than their husband or boyfriend. And that’s because I know that even if you’re giving these photos to someone else as a gift, your HAVING it done for you.

How do I know that? Because like you, I am a woman. I LOVE getting dressed up, I love putting on makeup and having my hair done. I love gossiping and telling secrets (seems like every job I’ve had included women telling me secrets, lol).

So, that’s some of the reasons why I do this.

And now I’m off to do a buch of crud I don’t wanna do.

Water Water Everywhere

JLReis Water Boudoir PhotographyI’ve blogged this session before, but I don’t know that I gave it the actual attention it needed.

Miss Sarah’s session might well have been my most popular session to date …. I’ve had chickies from three countries wanting to do this type of shot. Sarah’s utter and absolutely innocence comes though in nearly every shot. She got out of the car, said “I’ve never done anything like this before.” then went on to shoot me out of the water (so to speak).

jlreis-boudoir-photographyWe chose outfits that we’d thrown willy-nilly into the van, going with the feeling of the moment. Sarah is a natural beauty (no high tech make-up and an hour’s worth of hair) and her photos turned out so incredible.  I feel like I got lucky enough to pick an area that gave us a lot of different places to shoot, though we mostly stayed in the water

jlreis-boudoir-photographyMy purpose in this last leg of my life is to help other women – no matter their age or weight – see their beauty. You do not require constant approval for others, you have the ability to handle any situation without falling apart. You that you deserve to have photos taken, even if they’re only for yourselves. I want you to show not just yourself, but others (friends, family and even enemies), your worth and and the fact that you are special and magical.Like Tina Fey says: “Do your thing and don’t care if they like it.

Nobody can make you feel inferior without your permission.” ~ Eleanor Roosevelt. Be that candle that lights the way the rest of the women in the world. You don’t have to travel theworld to pass your message along, as some once said: “Bloom where you are planted.” Your happiness is your own and depends on no one but you, not your job,not your friends, not your lovers. Find your happiness and and it will shine one the rest of your life!

And my favorite quote, from my favorite redhead; “Love yourself first and everything else falls into line. You really have to love yourself to get anything done in this world.” ~ Lucille Ball

Big Changes on the Horizon

From the very first minute I knew in the back of my head what y goal in photography would be. I knew exactly what I wanted to do and who I wanted to do it for.

Over the past three year I’ve been all over the map, trying to make everybody but myself happy … those days will come to end before the end of summer.

You can find the next part of this blog on my SBG website, but it still echoes in my head and it’s STILL my aim. This is my year to brig this dream to the forefront. I hope you’ll be with me.

I see the walls women – tall, shirt, thin, curvy – put up between themselves and the rest of the world in regards to their looks. When I raise my camera their heads go down, their hands go up and … something inside me hurts a little because I know exactly how they feel and I want to do anything to make that feeling go AWAY.

I know that everything they hate about themselves is rolling around in their head and they’re trying desperately to figure out a way to hide all the things they hate about their body. They’re remember every insult, real or remembered from childhood, they’re remembering every well-intentioned piece of advice they’ve heard from mothers, grandmothers, friends about how to minimize the width of their waist or their double chin or how they should turn to make their nose less prominent.

[ … ]

I am not the best photographer in the world, but I work EVERY DAY to perfect my skills so that I can make the your photo experience one of joy and happiness. It is my JOB to give you photographs that you can look at in the future and SEE what your loved ones see, see the beauty that you bury beneath all those terrible lies you’ve been told by yourselves and by others. It’s my job to give you MEMORIES, wonderful memories, not only for yourselves but for your loved ones.

Here’s to 2016 – let’s let it be OUR best year yet.

Things I Love

One of the things I love to do (when I have the time) is photo manipulations – I was doing this LONG before I started taking photos professionally.

Just like the other things I do for relaxation – or used to do – (raw HTML coding, little tiny cross-stitch and filet crochet), it is time consuming and tedious, but my front brain shuts off and whatever is bothering me gets rolled around in my back-brain and I manage to come up with a solution.

The bike photo was created using two photos from DeviantArt, the bike photo and the background and was inspired by an image I saw while cruising Tumblr – can’t remember whose image it was, but it stuck in my head. I didn’t have anything of my own to use, so I went to DA.

The Little Red image was taken of my friend’s daughter in their back yard and merged with two images again, from DeviantArt. I can’t find the originals

Moonlight was taken two years ago in a local cemetery and manipulated using images from – again – DeviantArt.  I REALLY have no idea who took the DA images.

Happy Two Days After Christmas

Merry Christmas from me and BigD!
Merry Christmas from me and BigD!

Y’know, there are two things that are never the same without kids: one is the County Fair and the other is Christmas. I got to spend time with family and the gifts were lovely … but without little kidlets, the joy just isn’t there. I’m not being Scrooge-y, just stating one of my facts.

Maybe it’s because I have so much laughter and good times with my friends and family, that I expect the holidays to be so much more … MORE.

Greedy, ain’t I?

I HAVE been thinking about what 2015 means to me in the way of my business. As some of you may have noticed, I’ve split things a bit. I started out wanting to be the local – BETTER – version of Glamour Shots, but got waylaid by taking some pretty spectacular pictures of some gorgeous seniors, a couple of small venue weddings and more families that I would have expected.

And I found myself enjoying it much more than I would have suspected.

The thing is, except for a couple of regular all-female sessions that I do, I did very few glamour sessions. And those are the sessions I know I do BEST. When I get rockin with my ladies, we roll out some pretty sweet photos.

I think because I’ve had everything all lumped together, it confused people. Women looking for more intimate photography saw families and assumed I wasn’t doing the glamour sessions. Families and parents of seniors might have been put off by seeing a suggestive photo (NOT naked, as we all know you don’t have to be naked to be sexy), so I don’t share them on my Facebook page.

Sweater Session
Sweater Session

Come the first of January, SassyBee Photography will be opening it’s doors (figuratively, people, it’ll be the same red door on Main St ;)) with a vengeance. I’m grabbing 2015 right by the short hairs and hanging on with all my might.

I intend to create more fulfilling photo sessions, both for myself and with women who have overcome obstacles in their lives but finally are happy and in love with themselves. I will be aggressively looking for those women … and if you feel as though YOU fit that bill, you just drop me an email. I’ll make you a memory that’ll last your lifetime.

My Little Red
My Little Red

I want to create more art. For myself of course, but also for my clients. I’ve had this session in my head for years and finally the stars aligned. The photo turned out just as gorgeous as I’d pictured it in my head (you’ll be able to see it in the window on Main St. later this week).

So, do you see yourself as a grown-up and sexy Disney princess or a fairytale heroine (I’ve got Rapunzel stuck in my head these days). Shoot me an email, we’ll get the wheels turning on your own personal “Once Upon a Time“.

I’m actively looking for a local Muse that will be able to drop everything when I get a session in mind and need someone to bring my photographic dream to life. Curvy is lovingly embraced, “mature” is even better (Wow, how about a hot-mama 50 year old Snow white? I see a short black leather skirt, hot yellow silk blouse and over the knee CFM boots.) The job won’t pay in dollar bills, but you’ll have a ton of gorgeous photos and to quote Billy the Kid: “I’ll make ya famous.” Seriously, I’m looking for a woman from 21 years old all the way up to 60 years old who’s up for some photographic shenanigans.

I’ve started a new board on Pinterest to give y’all an idea of what I’m aiming for here . I intend to be THE premier glamour photographer in the area – come along for the ride ladies. Let’s make some damn history!
